Cyber Security Lab

The training facility, consisting of 4,000 SF of office & training space, is located on the Pearl River Reservation of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians (MBCI). Recently renovated to accommodate the specialized needs of the Cyber Security Lab participants, employees and components, it features a common area lab with 12 work stations, a private lab with 4 work stations, and offices for instructors  - all work stations outfitted with state-of-the-art computers, complete with Virtual Reality equipment.

The Lab has received visitors from the Career and Technical Center of Choctaw Central High, the STEM classes of Choctaw Central High School, various Tribal programs, and outside companies.  In December, two presentations were held at the CSI Lab.  Mike Skinner from Horne Cyber presented an overview of NIST 800-171, the Federal requirements for dealing with CUI, on 12/11/19 to representatives from eight companies/departments/educational institutions. Dr. Sarah Lee from Mississippi State University presented Cyber Security: It's Everyone's Responsibility, which is geared toward any computer user, on 12/12/19 to representatives from eight departments/entities in the MBCI.  The Cyber Security Awareness 101 training is available to all Tribal enterprises and departments beginning February 2020.

Vince Jordan, CEO of Lobaki Inc (leaders in VR experience), shares our vision for making the VR Experience available and for incorporating it into our workforce development.  Virtual reality development involves the creation of virtual worlds that can be experienced through advanced headsets and sensors to provide a user with a feeling of “presence” and complete immersion within a scene designed by XR developers.

JR Richardson of Cockrell, Webb & Associates understands well the intricacies of Government contracts and spent some time at the Lab sharing that insight, especially as it applies to compliance with the NIST 800-171 regulations.

Representatives from NAVAIR were here during the conception of the lab and saw it under construction. Returning for a visit in January 2020 to tour the facility, they were able to see how much progress has been made and to discuss the many applications of VR and VR training in a growing industry.
